Life's Little Adventures...

I am beginning to settle into the country life.  After being married exactly 2 and a half months, it's probably about time!  Almost everything is finding a home and wedding memorabilia is put away.  In order to do this, however, we needed some new storage.  Weylin remodeled the house about 4 years ago and did a wonderful job!  All the rooms are very spacious and there is plenty of closet space.  But he forgot to put shelves in the closets.  Do you know how difficult it is to store things in a closet that contains no shelving or hanging bars of any kind?  If you don't, just believe me when I say it is not a pretty sight.  Boxes upon boxes were stacked high and it was a big pain in the you-know-what to find anything.  This is when I made the executive decision to buy a new shelving unit.  Okay, maybe we talked it over.  Whatever.

Nonetheless, we made the hour long trek to Lowes to buy the new unit on Labor Day.  I was thrilled and new exactly what I wanted.  Weylin did not care...he just wanted to hurry home to go dove hunting.  We measured everything out and paid for our items.  Then we fenagled all the pieces into my car because we didn't think to bring his much more spacious truck. In case you are wondering, we DID make it home in time to go dove hunting.  We just decided to hang the shelves afterwards.

This was a big mistake.  We should have hung the shelves immediately because we were tired after hunting.  And cranky.  And irritable. And maybe a little bit impatient.

So we rushed to hang the shelves.  And realized things were not going as planned.

First, we couldn't find the studs to hang the shelves correctly.

Then we discovered that the shelves didn't fit.  This may have provoked a small fit from one of us (see pictures above)  :)
And we had to go back to Lowes. Only to discover that we had the right shelves all along.  We just didn't fit them into the brackets properly.

We brought the shelves back home and my wonderful Honey trimmed them down to fit.

He's so manly.  :)

And now I have some beautiful and functional shelves in my new "office"...or closet.  I love it!
